The way we do things at Elite Design Group can be summed up in one sentence: “Listening is a greater gift than creativity.” J.J. reiterates this each day and it is this idea that distinguishes us from other design firms. Most designers and architects will meet clients and have a certain agenda or home design in their heads from the get-go. However, from your very first consultation with EDG, your needs and your wants take priority, and we will produce a design in real-time that reflects your ideas.

Step 1

When you come see us for the first time, we ask the big questions about your future home: the size, the lot, the time. We’ll send you our pricing sheets so you know exactly what to expect. We like to meet clients at their property, if they already have one. And we like to include the builder early on, if possible. We like to take things slow and plan meticulously – so that later on, the project can move quickly. If you haven’t yet got the lot, J.J. and Wes will meet you at our office. This is when you tell us about the home of your dreams. J.J. will sketch out the first draft of your home design, and it will go through several iterations until you are completely satisfied. There is no charge for these consultations.

Step 2

Once you approve the initial design, and we agree on a payment schedule, the real process can begin. Our design team will refine the initial design to scale, which we’ll provide to your builder in order to get a rough estimate of the cost. We generally focus on floor plans and the front elevation because this will, in a way, set the tone for the rest of the design. We’ll meet with you again to see what changes you’d like. Wes will clean up the design, and the builder will calculate a more accurate estimate for you.

Step 3

At this point, most builders generally expect 50% of the construction costs. The sketch is then transformed into a CAD version for the engineer, who will give us feedback for the final construction document, which again needs your approval. This is what will be used during the actual build. We’ll keep you updated on the progress of these documents, and we’ll finalize (“seal”) the construction documents when you’re happy with everything. Even after we’ve shaken hands, we’ll help you throughout construction. If you need something, or you have an issue with your builder, or really anything – we’re here to help.
