John is a New York state native, and in 2000 he moved to Charlotte after graduating from university. He met J.J. at this first job in architecture, and in 2004 John decided to work with J.J. at Elite Design Group.
Once J.J.’s conceptual drawings are approved by the client, John is responsible for the construction drawings, which include the exact nuts and bolts needed for building. This task can be challenging, particularly when clients require changes, which can cause a ripple effect throughout the entire construction drawing. However, John has garnered the nickname “Johnny Rocket” because he’s extremely fast at drawing houses with accuracy.
His favorite part about working at EDG is working on different residential projects at once, all the time making them more unique and more functional. “I love trying to keep things different for each project. I’m always looking for new inspiration and I try to use world-wide influences. Complexity appeals to me.”
He’s currently based in upstate New York, and works remotely for EDG. Once in a while, you’ll see him in Charlotte, however. Wherever he is, you can always find him working on a project: “The only thing I stress about is getting things done right now. Everyone says I’m a workaholic, but that’s just because I enjoy it so much.”
